Central Jakarta (Jakarta Pusat) is one of the five administrative cities of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta and the core of the capital's government, business and history. It covers about 48 km² and is divided into eight districts: Gambir, Tanah Abang, Menteng, Senen, Cempaka Putih, Johar Baru, Kemayoran and Sawah Besar.

Central Jakarta holds many historic buildings and famous landmarks, such as the National Monument (Monas), Merdeka Palace, Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta Cathedral and the National Museum of Indonesia. The area has witnessed Jakarta's growth from the colonial era to its current role as the national centre of activity.

Beyond its historical sights, Central Jakarta is a shopping and business hub through the Thamrin, Sudirman, Tanah Abang and Senen areas.
